Why we check more than just the gutter
When a gutter overflows, the gutter is usually not the real problem. Maybe it does not slope enough. Maybe there are too few downspouts for the size of the roof. Or maybe the wood behind it has gone soft and the brackets have pulled loose. Putting up a new gutter fixes none of those, and that is the most common reason people call us after someone else has already been out.
So we look at the roof above the gutter, the slope of the gutter, where the water leaves it, and the wood behind it. Then we price the thing that is actually wrong. Now and then that costs less than what you called us about.
Drainage matters more in some towns than others. On the river corridor in West Carrollton, and down in Miamisburg, where the water goes after the downspout is a structural question rather than a detail.
