How Soon Do You Need Our Services?

No pressure, no obligation. We never share your details.

The fascia checked first

Brackets re-fixed into soft wood pull out again inside a season. We look behind before quoting.

Seams stripped, not smeared

Old sealant comes off properly before new goes on, which is why the repair lasts.

Told when a run is finished

Weeping at every joint means it has aged out. Re-sealing it one joint at a time is a running cost.

The Problem

Has the gutter pulled away from the fascia?

Then look at the board behind it before anyone re-fixes a bracket into it.

A gutter full of water is heavy. Full of ice it is heavier and it does not drain. The order is always the same. Leaves block the outlet in November. The gutter holds water. The water freezes. The weight then levers the brackets straight out of the board behind. So a great many gutter repairs here are really bracket repairs, and if the wood they pull into has gone soft, re-fixing into it lasts exactly one season.

  • The fascia checked before brackets are re-fixed
  • Seams stripped back and re-sealed, not smeared over
  • Told plainly when a run has aged out, and when it just needs clearing
Gutter Repair in Dayton

Why Us

Repair what is worth repairing

One split seam is a repair. A gutter leaking at every joint has worn out. Re-sealing it one joint at a time is a job you will be repeating next year.

01

Ice does the damage

Twenty-three inches of snow, a blocked outlet, and the weight of frozen water levering hidden hangers straight out of the board behind.

02

Re-hung to the right slope

New hidden hangers screwed into solid wood rather than nailed into it, and the whole run re-set to the correct slope while we are up there.

03

Insurance covers sudden

A limb through the gutter in a storm, or hail denting it as part of a wider claim. Ten years of sagging under wet leaves is maintenance, and gets declined.

The Difference

Why so many gutter repairs are really fascia repairs

The sequence is almost always the same. Leaves block an outlet in November, the run holds water, the water freezes, and the weight levers the hidden hangers straight out of the board behind. What you see is a gutter hanging off the house; what caused it is a full gutter and a hard freeze.

So the first thing we look at is the wood the brackets pull into. If it has gone soft, re-fixing into it buys one winter, and you would be paying twice for the same access.

A fair share of this is rental property in Fairborn, where a repair between tenancies beats a replacement nobody budgeted for.

How It Works

How a gutter repair runs

Usually a single visit, often the same one that diagnosed it.

  1. 1

    We find what actually failed

Bracket, seam, corner or downspout. They look similar from the ground and need different work.

  2. 2

    The board behind gets checked

Because a bracket is only as good as what it is screwed into, and that is not visible from below.

  3. 3

    Repaired properly

Re-hung to the correct fall on new hangers, or seams stripped back and re-bonded rather than covered.

  4. 4

    Water run through it

Before we leave, so you can see the repair holding rather than take our word for it.

What Dayton homeowners say

We had a leak over the back bedroom for almost two years and kept putting a bucket under it. The team found the problem in about ten minutes. It turned out to be the flashing around the chimney, not the shingles. They fixed it that same afternoon. I wish we had called sooner.

We had a full tear-off on our 1950s ranch. The crew arrived at 7 every morning and finished the job in three days. They even swept the entire driveway with a magnetic roller so our kids wouldn't pick up any nails. The final price was exactly what we were quoted.

After the hail last June, our insurance company questioned whether the damage was from the storm or simply the age of the roof. The team inspected everything, took detailed photos, and joined the call with our adjuster. The claim was approved. I don't think we would have managed it on our own.

Good work at a fair price. I gave four stars because our job had to be pushed back a week due to rain, and I had already taken the day off. They did call ahead and kept us informed instead of simply not showing up, which I appreciated.

A tree came down on our garage roof at around nine at night. Someone actually answered the phone, which I wasn't expecting. They had the roof tarped before midnight and came back the following week for the permanent repair. Great response when we needed help.

We had new seamless gutters and gutter guards installed around the whole house. They made the gutters right there on site, which I hadn't seen before. We've had two heavy storms since the installation and nothing has overflowed onto the patio. That was exactly the problem we wanted fixed.

I booked a roof inspection expecting to hear that we needed a full replacement because that's what the previous two companies told us. After inspecting it, they said our roof probably had about five years left and told us to call back when the time came. They didn't charge us for the inspection. That honesty is why they'll get the job when we eventually replace it.

This is the second time we've used them. They installed our gutters a couple of years ago, and we recently hired them again for a full roof replacement. We even had the same crew leader both times. The quote was clearly itemized, so we could see exactly what we were paying for, including the wood underneath repairs.

More about Gutter Repair in Dayton

Ice is what pulls gutters off the house

A gutter full of water is heavy. A gutter full of ice is heavier and it does not drain. Dayton takes about 23 inches of snow between November and March. The order that does the damage is always the same. Leaves block the outlet, the gutter holds water, the water freezes, and the weight levers the brackets straight out of the board behind. It is the whole argument for clearing them in the fall.

That is why so many gutter repairs here are really bracket repairs, and why we look at the board behind before quoting one. If the wood the brackets pull into has gone soft, re-fixing into it is a repair that lasts a single season, see soffit and fascia repair.

What we repair

Four jobs cover most of the calls.

Sagging runs

Re-hung to the correct fall on new hidden hangers, screwed into solid wood rather than nailed. Where the fascia is sound this is straightforward and it is the least expensive work on this page.

Leaking seams and corners

Old sealant stripped back properly and re-sealed rather than smeared over. Corners are where a sectional system leaks first and where a bad repair shows fastest.

Downspouts

Re-secured, re-routed, or extended so they discharge well away from the foundation instead of straight against it. Blocked elbows get cleared while we are there.

Holes and splits

Patchable in aluminum where the rest of the run is sound. If one run is split in several places it has reached the end, and we will say so rather than patching it three times.

When repair stops being the answer

One split seam is a repair. Once every joint is weeping, the run has simply reached the end. Sealing them one at a time buys you a year at most. That is usually the point at which seamless makes sense, because it removes the joints instead of resealing them.

The other trigger is the fascia. If the board has rotted along most of the roof edge, the gutter has to come off anyway to reach it. Re-hanging a tired gutter afterwards rarely adds up.

Frequently asked questions

Can you replace just a section of a gutter?

Yes on a sectional system. That is what it is designed for. On a seamless gutter we can cut out the damaged length and join in a new one, which does add a joint. Or we replace the whole run, so it stays seamless. On a short run we usually do the latter.

How much does it cost to repair a gutter?

It is among the least expensive work we do. Re-hanging a sagging run or resealing a corner sits well below the $438 that marks the bottom of our roof repair range. What changes the number is if the fascia behind has to be replaced first, because at that point it becomes carpentry rather than guttering.

Is gutter damage covered by homeowners insurance?

Sudden damage is. A limb through the gutter in a storm, or hail denting it as part of a wider claim. Gutters that have sagged over ten years because they were full of leaves are maintenance, and will be declined. It is the same distinction that governs roof claims, and our page on how carriers assess it sets out the detail.

Why do my gutters overflow when they are clean?

Almost always pitch or capacity. Either the fall toward the outlet is wrong, or there is too much roof feeding too few downspouts. A clean gutter that still overflows in a summer storm is telling you it was installed wrong, not that it is blocked.
